  WHAT DOES___MORALITY___ACCOMPLISH?

  notice that my carefully worded header places morality into a framework of practicality first of all.. i could have asked the question many ways; but, in order to make a certain point i chose this way.. let us retrace (as briefly as possible) the discussion of the good by aristotle.. aristotle asks: "what is the good?".

  he gives examples or analogies of a good physician, a good general and a good carpenter.. what does each do that makes them good?

  each accomplishes the goal of his profession.. respectively:.

  MORALITY, then, comes from doing actual things in the real world that consequently produce GOOD. We become GOOD by doing GOOD.

  As a matter of interest, how would this apply in a case where someone, in the course of an evil (not good?) action, produced unintended good?

  E.g. if a criminal is being chased through the streets by the polce and knocks over a blind person, but when the blind person gets up finds the blow to his head has made him see again? (Sorry I couldn't think of a better example on the spur of the moment!)

  encoding wtlibrary

  is there somebody who knows how to read the data from the watchtower library cd's?

  i have encoded the data from the cd's of older age (watchtower library cd until 1999), but the newer use a different code.

  anyone any idea?.

  I'd suggest having a poke around some of the .dlls in <drive:>\Program Files\Watchtower\MEPSCommon.

  I vaguely recall being told the routines are all there to read the data files.

  Sorry I don't know any more, but I hope it helps.

  here's the letter i wrote to the body of elders i served with for decades, when they invited me to a judicial committee meeting two months ago.

  i have not heard a word from them since i wrote this.

  i posted this monday night (may 30, 2005) to celebrate my 500th post, but it ended up in the "heated debates" section, when i intended it to go in this area.

  Putfile.com accepts video files up to 10 Mb. Hope your husband's able to upload it.

  Also, perhaps some with web sites might also like to host it, though on the downside, it would consume a lot of bandwidth.

  Edited to add:

  Just found Savefile File Hosting, which allows files up to 60Mb!

  if someone feels attracted to the jws to the point of beginning a bible study with them what sort of advice,if any, would you give them at this early stage before she/he gets hopelessly mind conditioned and entangled in their nets?

  i would base my response on the principle that one should first carefully check out the way they (the wts)treat their followers before getting intimately involved with them.

  your mom raises yer sorry arse as a dub and you both grow up knockin on doors together..........then you turn into an apostate heathen bastard.

  how does the witness one go to the meetings and out in service....and how do you the poor apostate bastard go to apostafests and stuff?

  Would the dub twin have to sit in on the judicial meeting when the apostate twin is being reproved?

  But if the dub twin was an elder, he could then sit on his brother's jc.

  But would the rest of the body (of elders!) allow the elder twin into elders' meetings??
